The new version 2.17 introduces an important feature for Team Workspaces: you can now control which team members have access to specific categories.
Creating a Category with Restricted Access
The category creation dialog now includes a new Participants tab:
Simply select the team members who should be able to see the category and its contents:
Once saved, this category will only be accessible to Workspace admins and the members you selected.

How Task Access Settings affect Category Access
As you may know, every Workspace has a Task Access section in its settings:
You can read more about the different permission types here. For categories with restricted access, they work as follows:
Type 1: All category members can view, edit, and delete its contents.
Type 2: All category members can view all tasks and edit tasks where they are creators, assignees, or editors.
Type 3: Category members can only see tasks where they are creators, assignees, or editors.
Combining the general task viewing and editing permission types with the new ability to specify category members should cover most use cases for dividing a Workspace into sections with different levels of access.
