Starting with version 2.9 that expected to be released in several days, you will be able to store not only tasks and projects in Chaos Control but also various files, audio notes, photos, and other resources.
All of this will be stored in the cloud and synchronized across your devices. These new features are included in the PRO plan, which you can read more about below.
In this article, we have gathered frequently asked questions about cloud storage and the upcoming plans for its development.
How can I add a file to Chaos Control?
In version 2.9, the task Edit and View dialogs will include buttons for adding files, photos, and audio notes in a special 'Files' section:
After adding, the files are displayed in the Task View dialog and can be accessed for subsequent viewing directly from Chaos Control:
Here you can watch a video demonstration of adding files to a task on a mobile device:
Added files are displayed in the new 'Resources' section, where you can manage them. This section also shows the total storage space currently in use:
Can files be added to projects, categories, and contexts?
This feature will be available in version 2.10. In version 2.9, resource attachments will be available only for tasks.
Also, in version 2.9, you will be able to add a file to the storage that is not linked to anything—simply for future use:
How does viewing files added to Chaos Control work?
When you click on any file, it opens using the default application of your operating system.
Are the attached files added to Chaos Control accessible through Finder or File Explorer?
At the time of the version 2.9 release, files added to Chaos Control will not be accessible through File Explorer, but they can be copied to the device's file system at any time. In future updates, we will consider the possibility of making the data in Chaos Control storage accessible through standard file managers.
What other types of resources will be available?
In future updates after version 2.9, additional resource types will be available for adding to tasks and projects—such as notes and links.
What happens to an attached file when the task or project it was linked to is deleted in Chaos Control? How can you find, open, copy, or rename the file afterward?
Files are independent entities that do not disappear when the tasks or projects they were attached to are deleted. Moreover, the same file can be added to multiple tasks or projects, or it may not be linked to anything at all. Files can be found and opened in the new 'Files' section of the app.
How is file synchronization organized? Is my data protected?
If you have the PRO plan, the data added to Chaos Control is stored in the cloud and synchronized across devices. The data is securely encrypted using the AES-256 algorithm, which is the standard encryption method used in such systems.
To save space on devices, data is not automatically downloaded from the cloud. For example, if you add a file on your PC, you will need to confirm its download on your mobile device. Additionally, you can delete a file from the device at any time, while keeping it stored in the cloud.
What is the storage capacity in Chaos Control?
Currently, there are three PRO plans available: 10 GB, 100 GB, and 1 TB. Please note that the option to purchase a lifetime PRO license will be available only until the release of version 2.9, after which only subscription options will remain.
What storage capacity will be available to me if I purchased the PRO plan earlier, when the Time Tracker was introduced?
You have 10 GB of storage. If you want to increase the capacity, please contact us, and we will provide a promo code for a discount.
Will I be able to increase the amount of data I need in the future?
Yes, there will be options to increase the storage space. However, it makes sense to purchase a lifetime license for the expanded storage in advance, as in the future, all upgrade options will only be available through a subscription.
What AI features will be available in the PRO plan?
The focus of upcoming updates in terms of AI features will be the ability to convert audio notes into well-structured and edited text.
Depending on the selected PRO plan, the number of minutes available for transcription and processing will vary:
PRO 10 GB: 10 minutes per week
PRO 100 GB: 100 minutes per week
PRO 1 TB: 1000 minutes per week
Additionally, in version 2.14, regular text notes will also be supported, with AI processing available for them as well.
How can I get a discount on the PRO plan if I have Premium?
Just send us a email from the address associated with your license, and we will send you a promo code.
