Announcing CC Tokens

As part of our ongoing efforts to strengthen the PRO license, we're updating how PRO benefits are described in relation to Chaos Control AI.

Previously, PRO plans were structured as follows:

• PRO 10 included 10 GB of cloud storage, 10 Chaos Control AI requests per week, and 10 minutes of audio/video transcription per week.
• PRO 100 included 100 GB of cloud storage, 100 AI requests per week, and 100 transcription minutes per week.
• PRO 1000 included 1000 GB of cloud storage, 1000 AI requests per week, and 1000 transcription minutes per week.

Starting with the next update (version 2.15.1), we're replacing the overly complicated concept of “AI requests and transcription minutes” with a simpler and more flexible system called CC Tokens.

A CC Token is the universal unit used by Chaos Control AI for usage limits. Different AI operations consume tokens as follows:

• One request to the Perplexity model consumes 1 CC Token.
• One request to the Perplexity PRO model consumes 15 CC Tokens.
• Audio/video summarization using Perplexity consumes 1 CC Token.
• Audio/video summarization using Perplexity PRO consumes 15 CC Tokens.

These changes will take effect as soon as version 2.15.1 is released and will apply to all PRO users.

To compensate for the fact that AI requests and transcription previously used separate quotas, all PRO licenses purchased before the release of version 2.15.1 will receive double the number of CC Tokens available under their plan.

For example:

• PRO 100 will receive 200 CC Tokens per week
• PRO 1000 will receive 2000 CC Tokens per week

For licenses purchased after the release of version 2.15.1, the number of available tokens will match the plan name, and tokens will refresh monthly rather than weekly.

For example, PRO 100 will provide 100 CC Tokens per month

For all users who subscribe to PRO after the release, tokens will refresh monthly instead of weekly. Therefore, if you've been considering purchasing or upgrading your PRO license, now is the best time to do it. By purchasing before the release, you'll lock in weekly token renewals for life — effectively receiving up to eight times more tokens over the course of a month.

Note: if you have Unlimited AI license, any AI operations won’t consume CC Tokens at all.

First, in the AI industry, “tokens” have become a widely recognized and familiar concept. They make it easier to understand usage limits and choose the most appropriate AI model for a specific task.

Second, CC Tokens will be used in several additional scenarios beyond AI:

• Customizing user profiles in Team Workspaces (including premium profile appearances and public profile customization)
• Unlocking special reactions and premium messages in Chaos Control chats
• Paying for specialized AI agents designed for specific tasks (coming alongside new AI models)
• Integrating with external services via API
• Receiving automatic rewards for completing tasks in team workspaces (CC Tokens may be earned for successfully completed tasks as Team Workspaces evolve)

In other words, CC Tokens will gradually become the internal currency of the Chaos Control ecosystem. We'll share more details about this vision in future announcements.
